SJS CP Awareness Day

At St. James we believe that anybody who wishes to receive a Catholic Education should. Today we celebrate St. James School Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day!

This school year St. James welcomed two 6th grade students who have cerebral palsy. This inclusion is possible due to the recently modified areas of the west side building which now includes a handicapped-equipped bathroom, and an accessible entrance from the school to the parish office. Both parents have expressed the positive impact their daughters have experienced toward their personal, academic and spiritual growth, a true testament of how St. James has opened its heart in welcome.

We have pushed our inclusive mission more to allow more students to have access to a Catholic education while receiving the necessary support to allow them to be here. We have made enhancements to our school building to make it fully handicap accessible. We have continued to have rigorous academics, where we rank 85 percentile or higher nationally in math and reading.

Great things are happening right now at St. James School. We will continue to FIND A WAY to advance our school to be fully inclusive, form students into young men and women of integrity, teachers teaching with zeal and rigor, and to lead students to having an authentic encounter with Christ.

Follow us this week on our social media pages as we share our story of what Inclusion looks like at St. James School!
